Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 2051 E. Market St., resumes its midweek program on Thursdays, continuing through March.
There is a $6 charge for the 5:45 p.m. dinner that includes beverage and dessert. Reservations are requested by 4:30 p.m. the day before by calling 330-372-1676.
Two free discussion groups meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. One focuses on “The Daniel Plan: 40 Days to a Healthier Life” by Rick Warren and Drs. Daniel Amen and Mark Hyman and promotes five key concepts on faith, food, fitness, focus, and friends. The other book group will use “The Story,” which condenses the Bible.

Mass for Life
Bishop George V. Murry will celebrate the annual diocesan Mass for Life at noon Jan. 18 at St. Columba Cathedral, 154 W. Wood St.
Expectant parents and their families will be invited to receive a blessing for their unborn babies.
The “Blessing of a Child in the Womb” was created to encourage prayer and recognition of the gift of the child in the womb and to foster respect for human life within society.
After Mass, a pasta luncheon will be provided in St. Columba Hall.
The Mass for Life occurs annually to encourage respect for all human life and to mark the 1973 Supreme Court decisions Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton, which legalized abortions through all nine months of pregnancy.

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2985 Center Road, will host a free chili lunch with speaker Stu Smith at noon Tuesday.
Smith is involved in planning and implementing water projects in central and northern Tanzania, coordinating with Lutheran and Roman Catholic churches.
Lutheran churches in Ohio and the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown have funded projects on which he has worked. He will talk about the land and people.

“Jurisdictional Unity: Can Anglican/Episcopal Restructuring Serve as Model for Orthodox Churches?” will be the topic of the Rev. Kenneth W. Rick when the Society of St. John Chrysostom, Youngstown-Warren Chapter, meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Edward Church, 240 Tod Lane.
Father Rick is the former rector of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Springdale, Ark. He teaches World Religions at Grand Canyon University.
