Movies scheduled at Leetonia library


Three movies will be shown this month at Leetonia Community Public Library, 181 Walnut St.

“The Big Sleep,” starring Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart, will be shown at 1 p.m. Friday.

“Dark Passage,” also starring Bacall and Bogart, will be shown at 2 p.m. Jan. 21. The family movie “Despicable Me 2” will be screened at 1 p.m. Jan. 25.

Be the valentine of a pound pup


Friends of Fido at the Mahoning County Dog Pound are promoting For The Love of Dogs, Valentines to the Pound.

The Friends request that you show your love for the lonely pound pups by sending $1 along with a special valentine.

Air Force veteran to speak at meeting


Ernest Stadvec, who is both a World War II and Korean War veteran, will speak on his experiences in both wars at this month’s meeting of the Mahoning Valley World War II Heritage Society at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 20 at A La Cart Catering on Lisbon Street.

There will be a buffet dinner followed by the speaker.

McGuffey Centre will sponsor baby shower


Associated Neighborhood Center at McGuffey Centre, 1649 Jacobs Road, will sponsor its 8th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day citywide baby shower from 3 to 5 p.m. Jan. 20.

Expectant women and parents of children 3 and younger who reside in Youngstown are invited free of charge.

Shepherd of Valley will host card games


The monthly card game will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Jan. 29 at Shepherd of the Valley, 301 W. Western Reserve Road.

A buffet lunch will be served at noon and will cost $6.50. Reservations are needed Jan. 21.

For those who just want to play cards, games will begin at 1.
