YSU coach Wolford to get contract extension

Youngstown State head football coach Eric Wolford will get a contract extension, YSU athletic director Ron Strollo said Friday.

Wolford was entering the final year of his original five-year contract. He is coming off an 8-4 season in which he finished 5-3 in the Missouri Valley Football Conference, which tied the Penguins for second place with South Dakota State, Missouri State and Southern Illinois.

Wolford has increased his win total each year, from three wins in 2010 to six in 2011 to seven in 2012. However, YSU has missed the playoffs in each of his four seasons.
