Trumbull Children Services infant rape case settled

Staff report

The federal judge in charge of the civil suit filed against Trumbull County Children Services over the rape of a child at its offices on Reeves Road has dismissed the case after notice that the case has been settled out of court.

Judge Benita Pearson filed the notice Monday, after a notice from Atty. Michael Rossi of Warren on Friday. The settlement will be finalized after the Trumbull County Probate Court reviews the settlement, Judge Pearson indicated.

Details of the settlement are not available.

On Thursday, neither Atty. Rossi, who represents the child and her adoptive parents, nor Tim Schaffner, executive director of Trumbull County Children Services, would comment on whether the suit had been settled.

The suit was filed by the child and her adoptive parents, who live in West Farmington, seeking damages as a result of the child’s being raped at the CSB facilities by her biological parents during a semi-supervised visit.

The biological parents, Cody and Felicia Beemer, were convicted of the rapes and were sentenced to life-prison terms.
