A Poland man will be a contestant on “The Price is Right” on Friday.
Christopher Jonda will vie for prizes on the popular game show, hosted by Drew Carey. “Price” airs locally at 11 a.m. on WKBN-TV.
Jonda, 25, is a graduate of Poland Seminary High School and Gannon University in Erie, Pa. He works as a physician’s assistant at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
He decided to see if he could get on the show while he was in San Diego in October at a medical conference.
“I was at a plastic and reconstructive surgery conference, and when it was over, I decided to drive up [to Los Angeles] to try to be on the show,” said Jonda. He is a long-time fan of the show and recalls watching it when he was a child.
“It’s your classic game show,” he said. “It’s the one everybody watches when they are home during the day.”
During taping, Jonda was able to briefly talk to show host Drew Carey, a Cleveland native. “He asked ‘What’s going on in Youngstown?,’” said Jonda.
The October trip wasn’t the first time Jonda attempted to get on “The Price is Right.” About four years ago, while in California, he unsuccessfully attempted to be on the show.
