President Barack Obama’s Hawaii vacation: Day 14

KAILUA, Hawaii (AP) — How President Barack Obama spent Day 14 of his holiday vacation in Hawaii on Friday:

— STAYING IN: Obama spent most of the day in his family’s vacation home in Kailua, a sleepy suburb of Honolulu along Oahu’s eastern shore. The day was even more low-key than previous days with outings of gym and golf.

— EXECUTIVE PROPOSALS: The Obama administration announced a pair of executive actions aimed at strengthening federal background checks for gun purchasers, with a particular focus on limiting firearm access for those with mental health issues. One proposed rule change aims to clarify terminology used by federal law to prohibit people from purchasing a firearm for mental health reasons. A second proposed change would give hospitals and other entities covered by patient privacy provisions more flexibility in the information they provide to the background check system.

— DEPARTURE PLANNED: The White House announced Obama and the first family planned to depart Honolulu on Saturday night to go back to Washington.

How can he go on vacation when he hasn't done anything constructive for the country?

The writer left off the cost of the vacation, not including the extended stay by Michelle.

The biggest expense is Obama’s roundtrip flight to Hawaii on Air Force One, which costs taxpayers $3,271,622, according to Michael Tasselmyer of the National Taxpayers Union Foundation and a Congressional Research Service report released in May 2012.

Do you think Michelle will save the taxpayers a few dollars by flying home on American Airlines for a few hundred dollars?
