A stolen vehicle at the Town and Country Motel in Boardman led township police to make two arrests Tuesday.
Julius Anderson, 18, of Columbus was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property, drug abuse and possession of dangerous drugs. He also was charged with selling, purchasing, distributing or delivering dangerous drugs.
Janet Teresa May, 22, also of Columbus, was arrested for a traffic warrant she had out of Richland County.
Both were staying at the motel. May was the one renting the room, police said.
According to a police report, officers went to the room and questioned May and Anderson, who police said was her boyfriend, about the stolen vehicle.
Anderson told police he drove to Youngstown to visit May with the listed stolen vehicle. He told police the vehicle belonged to his aunt, who was renting it from an auto-rental company, and that he was paying her for it but had stopped making payments.
May, who is five months pregnant, was placed under arrest for her warrant.
Anderson was arrested for receiving stolen property. Additional charges for drugs came after police searched the stolen vehicle.
Inside the vehicle, police found 55 loose pills and a bottle of 30 Lisinopril pills. Lisinopril is used to treat hypertension, congestive heart failure and to improve survival chances after a heart attack, according to the website drugs.com. The loose pills were identified as generic Flexeril, a muscle relaxant.
More pills also were found in the pocket of a jacket that was in the vehicle.
Anderson denied selling the pills, but did tell police, “That’s my thing; it’s what I do.”
Both May and Anderson were taken to Mahoning County jail.
Anderson was scheduled for an arraignment Thursday night in Mahoning County Area Court here.
