Warren cops investigating gunplay on New Year's Eve

WARREN — One of several New Year’s revelers who is believed to have fired a gun just after midnight Wednesday was charged with police with carrying a concealed weapon and discharging firearms in the city limits.

Keith McKenzie, 21, of 955 Highland Avenue SW, is expected to be arraigned on the one felony and one misdemeanor charge today in Warren Municipal Court.

Police were called at 12:08 a.m. to the 1300 block of Robert Avenue Northwest for shots fired. Police found McKenzie, who matched the description given by the 911 caller. He had a loaded handgun and was taken to the Trumbull County jail.

Police also were called to the intersection of Atlantic Street and Genessee Avenue Northeast at just before midnight, and they were called twice to Jefferson Street Southwest between midnight and 1 a.m. — all for shots fired.

No arrests were made during the three other calls.
