Heavy snow causes delays in first Ohio commute of 2014

Published: Thu, January 2, 2014 @ 11:30 a.m.

COLUMBUS (AP) — Another big snow storm messed up the first morning commute of 2014 for lots of Ohio motorists.

Accidents and delays were reported as snow began falling before dawn covered the roads as many commuters returned to work today after the holidays. Some schools that were scheduled to be back in session after the holiday break were delayed or closed.

Accumulations ranging from 4 to 6 inches are expected across the state as the snow tapers off this afternoon and the storm moves east. Winter-weather warnings or advisories have been posted for most of Ohio.

The storm is expected to bring heavy snow, strong winds and bitter temperatures to much of the northeast later today.
