Woman accidentally shoots self while dusting

BOARDMAN

Boardman police, fire and emergency personnel responded to a home on Carter Circle at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday for a woman who accidentally shot herself in the leg.

The 24-year-old woman told police she was dusting when she dropped her husband’s .45 caliber semi-automatic Glock she was attempting to move it. She attempted to catch the gun and grabbed it by the trigger, causing it to fire and hit her in the calf.

The woman was transferred to St. Elizabeth Health Center in downtown.

The gun and three other guns were taken by a family member for safekeeping.

This, and the other story about thieves stealing guns from a home in Boardman, are exactly why guns in a home are dangerous, rather than a source of safety or protection.

The odds of dropping the gun, or knocking it off the shelf, then catching it with your finger through the guard, and exerting enough force to pull the trigger????
I think there will be more to this story.

Agreed 123goz.
@lajoci. Proper gun knowledge and responsible gun owners would not be in this situation so please do not make an assumption about all of the gun owners based on mistakes of the few.

GUNS SHOULD DEFINITELY BE KEPT AT HOME! END OF STORY!

Someone is gonna be sleeping on the couch for awhile.

Guns should be in homes and responsible gun owners would never have this problem. Guns should also be worn, concealed, with the proper license - I know mine is!!!

Children and non-gun users in the home change the rules. Wear it or lock it up. Responsible gunners teach family. Ask an officer. Their wives and kids know more about guns than all of you put together.
