Immigration arrests Russian in Boardman as suspect in 7 rapes

Published: Fri, February 14, 2014 @ 11:42 p.m.

Staff report

Boardman police helped agents with the Cleveland office of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement take Vladimir Letunov into custody just after midnight Friday on an expired Russian visa and allegations that he committed seven rapes in Moscow.

Letunov was living at 137 Shields Road, Apt. 1, with his wife and a 5-year-old girl, when officers took him into custody.

A Boardman police report states the child is “reported to be his daughter.”

He spent several hours in the Mahoning County Adult Justice Center and was taken by immigration officials to Cleveland at about 6 a.m., according to Mahoning County officials.

Police took him into custody at just after midnight because that is when his visa expired, Boardman police said.

When Boardman and immigration personnel knocked on Letunov’s door, Letunov answered the door and was taken into custody, according to a Boardman police report.

Immigration officials notified Boardman police about Letunov on Thursday, asking for assistance in the apprehension, sayng he was “illegally in this country.”

An Immigration agent said Letunov “is also wanted by Moscow police for seven rapes.”

A Mahoning County marriage license for Vladimir V. Letunov, 42, of 137 Shields Road, and Zhanna V. Tomenko, 39, of same, was published in The Vindicator Feb. 5.

It never ceases to amaze me that SOME people manage to get into this country without public debate or outcry about their visa or lack thereof--only to contaminate US communities with drug trafficking, larceny, assault, and even terrorist bombings--while others who come to work for a better life for their families and communities are tracked down and deported as "illegal aliens." Hum, which of these two type might I want as MY neighbor?

I would like to see a campaign to strip folks like the Boston Marathon bomber's entire family--and this Russian criminal--of any visa or resident status they might have received to GET through customs, revoke their citizenship, and hold them financially responsible for theft (Tar...;s mother shoplifted something like $1000 of merchandise, then claimed the US society corrupted and ruined her poor sons), for the medical & emergency services' costs following the brothers' staged bombings and resulting manhunts, for the social services, government aid for schooling, food, and housing that the family received after being allowed IN to this country--WITH the privilege of citizenship but WITHOUT any responsibility to participate or contribute. Instead, they committed treason, came and went at will into and out the US, condemned, accosted, and betrayed a society that allowed them in.

As for this Russian, send him back. Was it so very hard to figure out he doesn't deserve 'asylum' or whatever other ruse got him paperwork that allowed him legal entry to the US?
