FOOD SALES AND DINNERS

TODAY

Boar’s Head Ladies of St. John’s Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave., will serve a chicken dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the church. The meal includes mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, salad, bread and butter, pie and a beverage. The cost is $7. No reservations are necessary. THURSDAY

Calvary United Methodist Church, 12062 South Ave. Ext., North Lima, will have a drive-through chicken dinner from 3:30 to 6 p.m. (or until sold out). Dinners include stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and a brownie. The cost is $6. Drive up to the door, and a volunteer will take the meal to your car. Call 330-549-2588 to reserve your dinners.

Col. Louis J. Campbell VFW Post 3538, 157 Lowellville Road, Struthers, will serve spaghetti dinners from 4 to 7 p.m. Meals will include meatballs, salad, bread and butter, and coffee. The cost is $6.50 for adults and $3 for children under 8. Carryout orders are $7 and will be available only until 6 p.m. Containers will be provided.

VFW Triangle Post 2799, 3161 E. South Range Road, New Springfield, will serve spaghetti dinners from 4 to 7 p.m. Prices are $6 for adults, $3 for children under 12 and $6.25 for carryouts. The meals include meatballs, salad, Italian bread and coffee or tea. There also will be a raffle. Call 330-542-9928 for information.

FRIDAY

Christ the Good Shepherd at St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell, will sell potato, prune and kraut pirogi. The cost is $5 a dozen. Phone orders may be made beginning at 8 a.m. at 330-755-1316, and orders can be picked up starting at noon. Patrons are asked to provide their own containers. No walk-in orders will be available.

Holy Trinity Church, 250 Bridge St., Struthers, will sell potato, cabbage and lekvar pirogi. Orders will be taken from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday at 330-755-0064. No walk-in orders will be accepted. There is a limit of three dozen cabbage pirogi while supplies last. Orders may be picked up from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Containers will be provided.

Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown, will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at 330-792-1005.

Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall, 526 W. Rayen Ave., will sell potato and potato with kraut pirogi for $6 a dozen. Orders should be placed from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday or 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at 330-746-9528 and are to be picked up between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Friday. Hot lunches will be available at 11 a.m.

St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4310 Kirk Road, Austintown, will sell potato with cheese pirogi. To order call 330-799-0084 from 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday and from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. The cost is $6 per dozen. Pickup will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday; no containers are necessary. Walk-ins are welcome. Patrons are asked to use the side entrance.

St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10143 Main St., New Middletown, will sell potato, sweet cabbage and cottage cheese pirogi for $5.50 a dozen. Orders can be called to 330-542-3525 from 7 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday. Walk-ins are welcome.

St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., will sell potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi. Advance orders will be taken at 330-747-3024 from 8 to 11 a.m. Pickup will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $6 per dozen. Pirogi lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Walk-in orders are welcome.

SATURDAY

Heritage Presbyterian Church, 1951 Mathews Road, Poland, is sponsoring a Winter Fest chili cook-off from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church. There also will be games, crafts, a bake sale and more. The cost at the door is $5 for adults and $2 for children.

VFW Post 6488, 2065 Coitsville-Hubbard Road, Coitsville, will serve a barbecue from noon until the food is gone. The meal will cost $9.50 and consist of ribs, macaroni and cheese or potato salad, green beans, bread and cake. A rib sandwich will be available for $7.50.

Wayne Town Hall, Routes 332 and 193, will be the location of a breakfast bonanza from 8 to 11 a.m. The menu consists of eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, biscuits and gravy and more. Donations will benefit Akron Children’s Hospital Burn Unit. The event is sponsored by First Congregational Church of Wayne Missionary Society.

Western Reserve Masonic Lodge, Route 88, West Farmington, will serve a spaghetti and meatball dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. The dinner will include salad, bread, pie, coffee and juice. The cost is $7 for adults and $4.50 for children 5 to 12; kids under 5 will eat for free. Carryouts will be available for $7.50.

SUNDAY

Fowler Fire Department will sponsor its monthly pancake, sausage and egg breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the fire station on state Route 193. Tickets are $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and $4 for children. Preschoolers eat for free.

Girard Athletic Association is hosting a pasta dinner fundraiser from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the high school cafetorium, 1244 Shannon Road, to benefit all sports at Girard High School. The dinner is sit-down or takeout and consists of penne pasta, meatball, salad, bread, dessert and beverage (for those dining in). The cost is $7. There also will be a basket drawing, bake sale and more. Tickets may be purchased at the door.

Kinsman Presbyterian Church, 6383 Church St., will serve a roast beef dinner from noon to 2 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door for $8 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. The dinner is sponsored by the Men’s Organization, and proceeds will benefit Boy Scout Troop 93. For information call 330-876-4485.

Southington American Legion Post Home, 3145 Warren-Burton Road, will serve an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donations are $6.50 for adults and $4 for children under 12; kids 4 and under eat for free. The menu includes pancakes and sausage or biscuits and gravy.

VFW Post 2799 will serve a homestyle breakfast sponsored by the ladies auxiliary from 8 a.m. to noon. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12. The menu consists of eggs, hash browns, sausage or ham, pancakes or freedom toast, toast and coffee or tea.

Youngstown Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road, Austintown, will serve a pork and sauerkraut dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The price is $8.75 for adults and $5 for kids and includes dessert and coffee, tea or pop. Takeouts will be available.

TAKING ORDERS

First Presbyterian Church of Girard, 890 Church Hill Road, will sell 15-inch homemade pepperoni rolls for $7 each, stuffed pepper soup and chicken noodle soup $5 a quart and $3 a pint, and fresh-baked bread for $1.50 a loaf. Orders can be placed at 330-647-7515 by Thursday. Pickup will be 3 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

UPCOMING

Alchemy Acres Animal Sanctuary will host a spaghetti dinner from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 9 at the Salem Italian American Club, 250 Penn Ave. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance at 330-332-4897. The cost is $7 per ticket, and children under 5 eat for free. The meal comprises spaghetti with meatballs, salad or applesauce, Italian bread, coffee, tea or lemonade and a dessert. The event also will feature a basket auction, 50-50 raffle and a carryout bake sale. Carryout dinners will be available by calling 330-337-8817. All proceeds benefit the animals at Alchemy Acres Animal Sanctuary.

Austintown Fitch Bands’ annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser will take place from noon to 7 p.m. Feb. 22 at Fitch High School cafeteria, 4560 Falcon Drive. The event helps provide uniforms and instruments for Fitch bands. The dinner ticket includes spaghetti, meatball, salad, bread, dessert and beverage. Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for seniors and students through high school, and free for children 4 and under. Austintown intermediate, middle and high school bands will perform during the dinner. There will be a 50-50 raffle and basket and bake sales.

Boy Scout Troop 44 is sponsoring an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner from noon to 5 p.m. Feb. 23 at Poland Presbyterian Church fellowship hall, 2 Poland Manor. The cost is $7 for adults and $3.50 for children 12 and under. Carryout dinners will be available. Tickets may be purchased in advance from any Troop 44 member or at the door.

Charity Lodge 530 F&AM is preparing for its seventh annual wild game dinner on Feb. 22 at Deerfield Town Hall, 1450 state Route 14. There will be two seatings of 200 persons each, the first from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and the second from 6 to 7:30. Reservations are mandatory and may be made by calling Ralph Coss at 330-607-2442 or Roy Wilson at 330-947-3392. The cost is $13 per person; meals for children 5 and under are complimentary. The meat menu will consist of wild boar, turkey, alligator, fish, venison, buffalo, elk or moose, and rabbit. The accompaniments will include baked potatoes, green beans, bread and butter, dessert and beverage. Proceeds will be used for the lodge’s expenses and philanthropic efforts such as Akron Children’s Hospital and Ohio Special Olympics. For information about Masonry, visit www.freemason.com.

Tickets are $7.50 for adults and $3.75 for children 4 to 12; those 3 and under eat for free. Takeouts will be available by calling 330-876-5641. The church is handicap accessible.
