BREAKING NEWS | Tonight's Varekai performance canceled at Covelli Center

Published: Wed, February 12, 2014 @ 4:54 p.m.

YOUNGSTOWN — Due to technical reasons, Varekai has had to cancel the premiere performance tonight at the Covelli Center. Varekai performances will resume Thursday and go on until Sunday as planned, according to a press release from Kelsey Rupert, director of marketing and sales at the center.

A release from Cirque du Soleil says the performers want to ensure "that we give patrons the best show they can possibly have and in order to do so, the company must deal with the technical difficulties which required additional time to adjust. We apologize for any inconveniences and we’d like to thank everyone for their understanding and look forward to the rest of the shows in Youngstown."

For information on refunds and/or exchanges, contact original point of purchase or the center at 330-746-5600.

I'm not buying why they canceled, I believe it was because of low ticket sales. Only my opinion.

Too bad the office was to be open until 8 pm,yet all I got was a recorded message, prompting me to dial a 4 digit extension. Which immediately disconected the call.
Bus,I tried to buy two extra tickets near the two I won. Nothing remotely available. I'm sure they were holding on to empty seats just for giggles.

I agree, Busdriver42. The problem with Covelli is they fail to market to anyone outside the Mahoning and Trumbull counties. If they want to sell tickets, they need to market Akron, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland, just to name a few. Technical difficulties is a "scapegoat" excuse because if Varekai was a top-notch act, they would've found a way to fix it. If it was sold out or standing room only, they would've brought someone in to fix it immediately. Just more bad press for Covelli, in my opinion.

One of the lamest shows I have ever seen and way below Cirque's standards. This was more like and act on the opening season of Americas got talent. Those people that missed out on the first performance and got their money back were the real winners.
