Suspended Pa. teacher goes to trial after stop with pupil

DENBO, Pa. (AP) — A suspended western Pennsylvania special education teacher has been ordered to stand trial after a police officer testified he found her in a parked car with a former student, who told investigators they were meeting for sex.

The teacher, 45-year-old Jacqueline Righetti, of Roscoe, declined comment after her preliminary hearing Monday before a district judge in Washington County.

Righetti has been suspended with pay by the Bethlehem-Center School District since police in Centerville last month filed cocaine possession and disorderly conduct charges against her for the incident Dec. 28 in Denbo.

An officer approached the parked vehicle thinking it was disabled, and found Righetti with a young man she claimed was her nephew. He told police he was Righetti’s former student.

Police say they found two white pills, a snorting straw, and suspected cocaine.
