Well-child immunization clinic


The well-child immunization clinic is Feb. 13 at the Girard Health Department, 100 W. Main St. Parents must preregister children before the clinic. Call 330-545-6048 between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. A $10 fee will be charged per child.

Parents are reminded to bring a copy of the child’s immunization record, and that a parent or guardian must accompany children under 18.

Free reflexology and acupressure


Dannielle MacDuff, doctor of naturopath, is offering free reflexology and acupressure sessions for pain and stress relief from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Feb. 26 at Wine Styles, 8208 E. Market St. Call 330-505-3515 to register.

New podiatrist


Ankle & Foot Care Centers has welcomed Dr. Heather Petrolla to its staff of 16 podiatric physicians and surgeons. She is treating patients in the group’s Andover, Cornersburg and Struthers offices.

Before joining Ankle & Foot Care Centers, Dr. Petrolla practiced podiatry for more than 35 years with her husband, Dr. Angelo Petrolla, in Struthers and Andover.

Her practice includes general podiatry, diabetic foot care and other lower extremity ailments. She has been a podiatrist for more than three decades and is a lifelong Mahoning Valley resident from Kinsman.

Dr. Petrolla earned a degree in podiatric medicine from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine and an undergraduate degree from the Ohio State University. She is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, Ohio Podiatric Medical Association Eastern Academy and the Ohio Podiatric Medical Association.

Ankle & Foot Care Centers has 20 locations in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties in Ohio and an office in western Pennsylvania. Specific locations and other information are located on the group’s website at www.ankleandfootcare.com.

SlimDown program


Starting in March, Humility of Mary Health Partners registered dietitians trained in adult weight management are offering SlimDown, a six-week weight management program that focuses on lifestyle changes in food, activities and behaviors.

Classes are 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Mondays, March 3 to April 7, at St. Joe’s at the Mall, Eastwood Mall, Niles; and Wednesdays, March 5 to April 9, in Community Room 2 of the D.D. and Velma Davis Family YMCA, 45 McClurg Road, Boardman. The cost is $40 for new participants and $20 for repeat participants.

To register, go to HMpartners.org and select “Events.” Choose the start date of the program desired and select the “Register Now!” bar. The registration deadline is one week before the program begins. There is no registration at the door.

New emergency department


Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC’s new emergency department (ED) recently opened. The design creates a better experience for patients, staff and physicians by bringing patients in closer proximity to key hospital services, including imaging, the Womancare Birth Center, patient and operating rooms, said Leslie C. Davis, Magee president.

The ER has a private room designed to provide better care of sexual assault victims; design consideration for bariatric and geriatric patients; accommodations for emergency medical service; and an exam room with in-room obstetric ultrasound capability.
