Legislation would mandate insurance coverage for hearing aids

A Democratic state lawmaker wants health insurers to be required to cover hearing aids.

State Sen. Edna Brown of Toledo, D-11th, offered SB 257 to help a growing number of hearing impaired resident cover the costs of the devices and related care.

The hearing aid business is one of the biggest rackets going and someone wants the government (us taxpayers) to get involved?

Hearing aids can be like shoes, a dozen or sizes would handle 99 % of all cases.

But the industry wants us to believe that each person needs ultra expensive, custom fitted devices.

And most folks buy that story.

Digital technology has improved devices and brought the price down.

Best price is Sam's Club at half what the others charge. Pays to shop around.
