11 take oath Thursday to be American

YOUNGSTOWN

Eleven people became U.S. citizens Thursday in a naturalization ceremony before Judge Mark A. Belinky of Mahoning County Probate Court.

The new citizens, their hometowns and countries of origin are: Ernestine Marshall, Boardman, Sierra Leone; Lung Thi Nguyen, Youngstown, Vietnam; Xuyen Kin Nguyen, North Lima, Vietnam; Jai Verbal, Boardman, Iran; Mary Viteri Murillo, Boardman, Ecuador; Ali Daood Minwer Alabadi, Boardman, Jordan; Balbir Kaur, Canfield, India; Madhavi Tushar Shah, Boardman, India; Joannis Konstantinos Velonis, Campbell, Greece; Sabah Ali Husseinen, Boardman, Egypt; and Karma Rafiq Ramez Alhaddad, Mineral Ridge, Jordan.

Congratulations also! I took the same step many years ago becoming a naturalized Citizen of the United States. It's becoming quite a rarity- following legal channels- when the whole temper of the times seems to suggest otherwise- that whoever gets across the border, by whatever means, is entitled to stay here.
