YSU issues statement on Pelini's controversial Nebraska rant

In the wake of media accounts yesterday of new Youngstown State University football coach Bo Pelini's comments to his Nebraska team after his November firing, YSU Athletic Director Ron Strollo has issued this statement:

"Coach Pelini's remarks as reported are inappropriate and unfortunate. We have discussed the report with coach. We are confident that Coach will conduct himself accordingly moving forward. We will not be commenting any further on this issue."

Two days after he was fired at Nebraska, Pelini went on a profanity-laced rant against his former athletic director, Shawn Eichorst in front of his players. A copy of the recording was leaked to the Omaha World Herald.

It wasn't the first time Pelini got in trouble over a privately-recorded message. Last year, Deadspin relased a recording of Pelini criticizing fans for leaving early in a 2011 come-from-behind win over Ohio State.
