Austintown Senior Center, 100 Westchester Drive, has planned the following: Monday, active exercise and quilting charity quilt at 8 a.m., 30 minutes with God and blood pressure checks at 9, bingo and painting class at 10, senior spinning at 11, lunch and advanced computer class at noon and crafting for gift cart at 1 p.m.; Tuesday, active exercise at 8 a.m., understanding investments video class at 9, bingo and senior spinning at 10, quilting class at 10:30, Zumba at 11, trip for lunch and a movie at 11:30, chair yoga and lunch at noon, and MV Olde Car Club show at 5 p.m.; Wednesday, active exercise at 8 a.m., 30 minutes with God and medical mysteries video class at 9, bingo at 10, Fountain of Youth fitness at 11, pizza party ($3) at noon, movie matinee at 12:30 p.m. and Disabled American Vets meeting at 6; Thursday, active exercise at 8 a.m., wood carving and ancient Italy travelogue at 9, chair yoga and SOS at 9:30, vets helping vets and knitting class at 10, Keeping Fit As You Age at 10:30, crocheting class at noon, duck pin bowling at 1 p.m., conversational Spanish class at 1:30, and dinner and bingo and monthly birthday party at 5; and Friday, active exercise at 8 a.m., 30 minutes with God, Medieval life video class and trip to Canfield Fair at 9, bingo and discussion group at 10 and senior spinning at 11. Girard Multi-Generational Center, 443 Trumbull Ave., has planned the following: Monday, fitness rooms and computer cafe from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., stretch class and yoga stretch at 9:30, knitting and crocheting classes at 10:15, and one-on-one computer tutoring and Pilates at 10:30; Tuesday, fitness rooms and computer cafe from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., blood pressure screening and jewelry making class at 9, tone up with tunes at 10 and yoga at 10:30; Wednesday, fitness rooms and computer cafe from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., morning and yoga stretch classes at 9:30, knitting and crocheting classes at 10:15, one-on-one computer tutoring and Pilates at 10:30 and Scrappers Day event ($16 for game ticket, all-you-can-eat buffet and sweepstake chances) at 5:30 p.m. (parking $3), call the center for tickets; Thursday, fitness rooms and computer cafe from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., movie in the parlor at 9 and yoga at 10:30; Friday, fitness rooms and computer cafe from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., stretch class at 9:30, tone up with tunes at 10, one-on-one computer tutoring at 10:30, mommy and me yoga at 11, and tai chi ($5) at noon. Guardian Angels of Ohio, a volunteer guardianship program of Trumbull County Probate Court, is looking for volunteers. They will receive training to become advocates who reach out as friends to seniors who may need a friendly phone call, a visit in a nursing home or a visit at home. Angels volunteers also are involved in planning special events for seniors such as health fairs and Make a Difference Day projects. Senior Independence Senior Center of Mahoning County, 1110 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, has planned the following: Monday, needlecraft at 10 a.m., bridge at 1 p.m. and Drums Alive at 2:30; Tuesday, Brush, Knife and Needle Club at 10, Shellabella’s for lunch at 10:30, and beginner and intermediate bridge at noon; Wednesday, computer classes at 9 and 11 a.m., watercolors class at 10, tap class at noon, chef’s table cooking demonstration at 1 p.m. and line dancing at 1:30; Thursday, woodcarvers at 9 a.m., Boardman Fun Day at 10, exercise at noon, watch our weight and 500 card club at 1 p.m. and Texas Hold’em at 2; and Friday, Wii bowling at 10 a.m., card and board games at noon, movie matinee at 1 p.m. and cornhole at 2. Trumbull County Senior Court AARP Driver’s Safety Program offers a certified instructor to provide a review of driving skills and techniques as well as strategies to help seniors adjust to physical changes that may affect their driving ability. The cost is $15 for AARP members and $20 for nonmembers. Classes will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Hubbard Public Library, 436 W. Liberty St.; from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sept. 25 at Cortland S.C.O.P.E., 125 N. Bank St.; and from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 6 at St. Joe’s at Eastwood Mall in Niles.
