Campbell man arrested for drugs

CAMPBELL — City police arrested a 22-year-old resident late Sunday on charges of trafficking in drugs, a fifth-degree felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

James Carter, of the 100 block of Roosevelt Drive, will answer to those charges at 9 a.m. Tuesday in Campbell Municipal Court. He is being held without bond at the city jail until then.

Shortly after 11 p.m. Sunday, police stopped a car driven by Carter on 12th Street for having only one working headlight. The dispatcher, who confirmed that Carter has a valid driver's license, told the on-duty officer that the last time he came in contact with Carter, he was arrested for felony possession of drugs.

A search of the car produced a large plastic bag containing three small bags of suspected marijuana.

Carter was given a verbal warning for the traffic violation.
