Garage and bake sale

YOUNGSTOWN

There will be a garage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Victory Lutheran Church, 2110 Glenwood Ave.

Barbecue dinners and a bake sale will be featured. All proceeds will benefit the church’s community food bank.

Antique truck show will boost food bank

YOUNGSTOWN

Cerni Motors and the Antique Truck Club of America will host an antique truck show from 4 to 10 p.m. Aug. 15 and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 16 at 5751 Cerni Place.

The show is open to the public, and truck enthusiasts are welcome to take their vehicles. Guests are asked to take at least one nonperishable food item for the Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley. Items most needed include peanut butter, cereal, canned vegetables, tuna fish, dry pasta, canned soup, and macaroni and cheese. They also can be dropped off at this location.

Items still wanted for Struthers book

STRUTHERS

The deadline to submit stories and photographs of Struthers for a book by Patricia Ringos Beach is Aug. 18.

All materials and photographs will be returned. Submitting material does not mean it will be in the book, but it will be copied and filed at the Struthers Historical Society Museum.

Material may include photos and articles of a business such as florists, medical offices, beauty shops, dance studios, etc. Needed are those of Mauthe Park and its swimming pool, clubs, societies, fraternal organizations, ice skating in Yellow Creek Park, the Wagonwheel Restaurant, bowling alleys, bars, children playing in neighborhood parks with chaperones who taught crafts and supervised the children.

Lions club will help kids get coats

BOARDMAN

If you are experiencing financial difficulties and your kids need new coats, the Boardman Lions want to help.

Applications will go home with all Boardman elementary students. They are also available on the Lions website: boardmanlions.com, and in the Boardman. Applications should be mailed to the address on the form. They should not be given to your school. The application deadline is Sept. 12. You must be a Boardman resident to apply. Qualified applicants will be notified by mail. Families will be invited to a night at Target to select their coats.

To donate to the program, the Lions website offers a variety of options.
