Tiger Woods off to sluggish start at PGA Championship

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Tiger Woods has made the turn at 1-over par in the opening round of the PGA Championship.

After arriving at Valhalla less than 24 hours earlier, Woods started on the back side today and bogeyed both par 3s after errant tee shots. He got a shot back in unlikely fashion, holing out from the fairway with a wedge at the 16th and went to the front side with a 37.

Woods, who hasn't won a major title since 2008, is already five shots off the lead. Freddie Jacobson and Kevin Chappell are at 4 under.

It wasn't known if Woods would even play the PGA after he injured his back at Firestone Country Club in Akron last weekend. He went to Florida for treatment and arrived at Valhalla to much fanfare Wednesday.
