Mahoning Valley Chorale, directed by Kris Harper, will present a summer concert at 3 p.m. Aug. 10 at Good Hope Lutheran Church, 98 Homestead Ave.
The concert will feature the women of the chorale and will include light sacred music such as “Arise My Love” with text from the Song of Solomon; traditional spirituals including “Rock-a My Soul;“ and selections based on the Psalms, “Hail, Holy Queen” from Sister Act and the classic “You Raise Me Up.”
The concert is free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be taken.
The chorale is a nonprofit community choral organization whose vision is to be the advocate for choral music in the Valley.
The chorale, which rehearses Monday evenings at Good Hope Lutheran Church, will conduct open auditions in August. The chorale, which is open to singers of all ages, is accepting voices on all parts including soprano, alto, tenor and bass.

Terri Roberts of Strasburg, Pa., a member of Living Faith Church of God, will speak at three Valley churches. Her son, Charles C. Roberts IV, shot 10 Amish girls, killing five, in October 2006 at West Nickel Mines School in Bart Township.

Speaker at Unity
Dr. Sheila K. Collins will speak at the 11 a.m. Aug. 10 service at Unity Centre for Spiritual Living, 1226 Naylor Lloyd Road.
She will discuss her book, “Warrior Mother: Fierce Love, Unbearable Loss and the Rituals that Heal,” which describes her journey with two of her three adult children through their illnesses, treatments, deaths and the healing process afterward.
