The Calvin Center for the Arts will host two community events Sunday.
Rust Belt Theater Company’s annual Repurposed Art Sale will be from 2 to 9 p.m.
And the inaugural Youngs-town SOUP will be from 7 to 9 p.m.
Calvin Center is at 755 Mahoning Ave.
The Repurposed Art Sale, now in its third year, is a celebration of music, dance and recycled artwork. It will feature local performers and the work of local artists.
Contributing artists include Eric Alleman, Robert Dennick Joki, Mary Learman, Ginger Blossoms, Melanie Bolevich, Dream in Color Jewelry, Beth Farrow, Medusa’s Adornments and more. Nicole Zayas from Buffcakes will serve gourmet cheesecake throughout the day.
Live entertainment will begin at 5 p.m., featuring bellydance by the Tribe of EOS, songs from the Rust Belt Theater performers, a dance solo by Crystal Beiersdorfer, and music by Bernadette Lim. Admission to the art sale is free.
Later in the evening will be Youngstown SOUP, a dinner to celebrate creative projects. For $5, attendees receive homemade soups and a ballot. Four community projects will be presented, with each project getting four minutes to share their idea and answer questions. Attendees will then vote on them.
After a break to sample soups, ballots will be counted and the winning project will take home all the money collected that night.
