YOUNGSTOWN

The film “The Way Back,” which tells the story of a Polish prisoner of war in a Soviet prison camp, will be screened at 6 p.m. April 23 in room 132 of DeBartolo Hall on the Youngstown State University campus.

The screening is sponsored by the YSU Slavic Student Association, in conjunction with the YSU English Festival. The 2010 Academy Award-nominated film will be preceded by a discussion with Eugene Bak, author of “Life’s Journey.” Bak will share his family’s 12 years of Siberian exile under Soviet rule.

Bak is the founder and director of the Polish American Cultural Center in Cleveland. In 2010, he was awarded the Knights Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland, the nation’s highest honor for collaboration between nations.

Admission is free and open to the public, but donations are welcome. For information, contact Ewelina Boczkowska at 330-941-1833 or eboczkowska@ysu.edu.
