Published: Mon, April 14, 2014 @ 1:31 p.m.

YOUNGSTOWN

Thirty-three people have applied to be Youngstown State University’s ninth president, as of noon today. More applications could roll in throughout the day. Jim Tressel, former YSU and Ohio State University football coach, and Martin Abraham, dean of YSU’s College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics are among those who applied.

Also applying is Tony Atwater, who served as YSU provost and vice president for academic affairs from 2001 to 2005 and is now president of Norfolk State University in Virginia.

Quick google on Tony A. he was fired from norfolk last year
He was given a no confidence vote at IUP prior to his Norfolk job, by 84% of the faculty.

The caliber of candidates on the list (posted on wfmj and wkbn) speaks directly to the destruction of the reputation of the university at the hands of this inept Board of Trustees.

So, just for fun, google some of these gems--I did four--Allen Sessoms fired from president's job in D.C. Hamid Shermani, fired, votes of no confidence, Richey and Sessoms both charter school management execs. Again, what does this tell you about the stature of the university under this BOT, oh and as far as I can tell, Cafaro is a chiropractor? Well at least this list will make it easier for them to put the fix in for Tressel.

It's an interesting list to be sure. Several physicians, several fired presidents. At least one is a finalist for a president's position in the SUNY system and at least two have applied for the Univ. of Akron job. Yeah, I think the fix is in.

Tony, one of the fired presidents after this public money at YSU, was fired from Norfolk in August 2013 but pulls his plush salary of $295,000 through June 2014. And are not taxpayers still paying Dunn's gross salary even though he does nothing? Increasingly, presidential candidates are degenerating into a nomadic tribe of rip-off artists.

This is all a joke- a very expensive one for the taxpayers and students footing the bill. They brought Dunn in to "increase enrollment and raise academic standards" despite the fact he was being let go at his last cushy assignment for NOT being able to do precisely that- yet, they hired him anyway. It's bizarre- most major corporations- auto makers for instance- routinely elevate someone to the top post who worked his or her way up in the organization and knows it- as well as having loyalty to it. Why are Universities any different? I'm sure there has to be many experienced people down there with the ability to run the place- but the BOT doesn't give them a chance- they prefer Carpetbaggers and Over-paid Half-baked Flunkies instead. For Shame (Garg is an Oncologist- a Cancer Specialist- maybe he ought to have his own head examined- there might be something growing up there addling his judgment. Time to retire to Fort Myers, Doc.).

As I've said many times before: "It's just a Dog and Pony Show"- Nothing More.
