Traffic stop in Campbell yields pound of suspected coke plus heroin

Staff report

CAMPBELL

A traffic stop led Campbell police to a drug bust on Coitsville Road on Saturday afternoon.

Nathan Lopez Logan Jr. was detained in Campbell City Jail after police found nearly a pound of cocaine separated into individual bags on him and in the vehicle, plus a small bag of suspected heroin on him.

Logan is charged with trafficking in drugs, a first-degree felony, possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying concealed weapons and two minor misdemeanor charges for traffic violations.

He was stopped on Coitsville Road after police say they saw him travel left of center and pass a vehicle in a no-passing zone while speeding.

Logan appeared nervous during the traffic stop, so police asked if he was in possession of anything illegal, including drugs or weapons, according to a police report.

Logan told police no and gave them permission to search his vehicle and him.

In addition to the drugs, police also found a knife/sword weapon in Logan’s car, two cell phones and $975, according to the report.

He is being held until he can post bond or his initial court appearance at 9 a.m. Tuesday in Campbell Municipal Court.
