fast facts | Narcissus ‘Fellows Favorite’

Published: Thu, April 10, 2014 @ 12:00 a.m.

The Narcissus “Fellows Favorite” is a variety of daffodil hybridized by Brent & Becky Heath of Brent and Becky’s Bullbs, and was so named in honor of Fellows Riverside Gardens’ 50th Anniversary in 2008.

The original cross of this variety was made about 1985 in the fields on the Heaths’ farm in Gloucester, Va. Now, more than 20 years later, enough stock plants are available to have it named and made available to the retail customer.

A Division 2 Large-Cup Daffodil, this flower grows very well and performs as a great perennial. The bloom is a nice soft yellow with a strong white ring at the base of the petals.

It is available exclusively at Mill Creek MetroParks’ Fellows Riverside Gardens during the autumn plant sale. Orders can be placed throughout the year, and at Brent and Becky’s Bulbs at www.brentandbeckysbulbs.com.
