Warren police making progress in vandalism case

Published: Tue, April 8, 2014 @ 10:44 a.m.

WARREN

Warren police have received tips from the public and believe they are making progress in solving the vandalism done to the art work in David Grohl Alley late Friday.

The alley is just south of Courthouse Square.

A white male is captured on surveillance video damaging about half of the pieces of artwork in the alley by putting white spray paint on 11 paintings and a steel sculpture.

Another dozen or so paintings, a second sculpture and other items were not damaged.

The vandal apparently worked his way east from the Main Avenue entrance to the alley, damaging the pieces closest to Main Avenue, including several paintings mounted on the walls.

Jeff Cole, officer in charge and public-information officer for the Warren Police Department, said he’s hopeful to have charges filed in the case sometime today.
