Jazz concert with Mike DiRubbo


The Dana School of Music will present a recital by Jazz Ensemble 1 at 8 p.m. Monday in Kilcawley Center’s Chestnut Room, on the Youngstown State University campus.

The ensemble, directed by Kent Engelhardt, will be joined by the YSU Jazz Faculty Trio (Alton Merrell, Dave Morgan and Glenn Schaft) and guest-artist saxophonist Mike DiRubbo, who is the 2013 DownBeat Magazine Critic’s Poll “Rising Star on Alto Saxophone.”

The event is free and open to the public.

Piano recitals on YSU campus


The Dana School of Music will present two free piano recitals.

Cicilia Yudha, a Dana professor, will present “An Homage to Vienna” at 8 p.m. Saturday in Bliss Recital Hall, inside Bliss Hall, on the Youngstown State University campus.

Guest artist Susan Svrcek of Pasadena Conservatory of Music will perform at 4 p.m. Sunday in Bliss Recital Hall.
