Man arrested in Ga. for shooting in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN — A man wanted for a March 15 shooting on South Avenue was arrested today by U.S. Marshals in Decatur, Ga.

Youngstown Chief of Detectives Capt. Brad Blackburn said Dashonti Baker, 22, was arrested in connection with the shooting of Jaquez Brown, 21.

Brown was shot as he was in an SUV with three other people in the parking lot of a South Avenue store by someone in another vehicle who fired several rounds into the SUV.

A Mahoning County grand jury indicted Baker on Thursday on charges of attempted murder and felonious assault with firearm specifications. He is expected to be arraigned in common pleas court when he comes back from Georgia.
