Warren man charged with assaulting police officer

Published: Tue, April 1, 2014 @ 1:05 p.m.

WARREN — Kwan Frost, 35, of Main Avenue Southwest is in Trumbull County jail, charged with felonious assault, felony drug possession and several misdemeanors after refusing to be arrested Monday afternoon during a traffic stop.

He will be arraigned on the charges Wednesday in Warren Municipal Court. The misdemeanors are resisting arrest, driving under suspension and failure to stop at a stop sign.

Patrolman Adam Huffman said he made a traffic stop on Frost at 5:27 p.m. on Mahoning Avenue near Post Road and advised Frost he was going to be arrested for driving under suspension.

Huffman got one handcuff on Frost before Frost started twisting away from the officer and a struggle ensued in which Frost attempted several times to strike the officer with his hands and arms, according to a police report

When a second officer arrived, Frost was brought under control and arrested. Huffman went to ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital for treatment of scrapes on his hand.

Officers found three pink tablets in Frost’s pant pockets that are being tested to determine whether they are illegal substances.
