Members of the Boardman High School Band and Orchestra will be out in the neighborhoods of Boardman on the morning of Sept. 28 to collect donations door-to-door.
Tag Day has been an annual tradition for more than 40 years. The proceeds from this event mainly benefit the uniform fund which always needs replenishing for the next uniform purchase.
The responsibility for replacing worn uniforms is solely that of the Boardman Band and Orchestra Parents, Inc. No state or local tax money is allocated for uniform purchases.
In addition to canvassing the neighborhoods, some students will be collecting in front of some local businesses. Traditionally, students give donors a “tag” thanking them for their support. In recent years, the band has also used this as an opportunity to distribute information and order forms for its annual citrus fruit sale.
Students are driven to their routes by adult chaperones. The band students will be dressed in their band uniforms.
