Motorcycle passenger dies in Columbiana County crash

The passenger on a motorcycle was killed and the driver seriously injured Thursday afternoon when the driver lost control on a curve on state Route 9, south of Whinnery Road, in Butler Township, went off the road into a wooded area, and hit two trees.

Killed was Kara Molnar of Adena, Ohio, who was pronounced dead at the scene by the Columbiana County coroner. The driver, Richard Hall of Kingsport, Tenn., was flown to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, where he was listed in stable condition.

According to the Lisbon Post of the Ohio Highway State Patrol, the motorcycle was southbound on Route 9 at about 3:10 p.m. when it went off the right side of the road. Hall and Molnar were thrown from the cycle. Neither were wearing helmets, OHSP said.
