“A Christmas Carol,” directed by Richard Fawcett, Salem Community Theatre, 490 E. State St., Salem, auditions for age 5 and older, 7 p.m. Oct. 7 and 8. Charles Dickens’ classic holiday tale provides a unique opportunity for those who are new to the stage with it’s variety of ages and size of roles. Those auditioning should be prepared to read from the script and interact with other actors. In addition to acting roles, the production includes some musical elements to accentuate certain scenes and provide time for scene changes, plus a closing song that all members of the cast join in. Anyone with a desire to be part of “the carolers” or to be involved in the musical portions of the production is invited to sing a song of their own choosing, with a supplied accompanist or a cappella if they choose.
