Possible home remodeling scam in Campbell

CAMPBELL

Police are looking into a suspected home remodeling scam after a man attempted to gain access into a Porter Avenue home Monday morning.

Shortly before 9 a.m. Monday, a man -- described as a white male in his mid-30s who was dressed in work clothes -- came to the front door of the Porter Avenue residence. When a woman opened the door, he told her that her husband had asked for an estimate on remodeling the home’s bathroom, which the woman said she knew nothing about.

Even though the woman told the man that her husband was not home and that he should just leave a business card, he was persistent, repeatedly insisting that the woman let him in the house.

The woman eventually shut the door, and the man was gone when she looked outside.

Police checked the area, and are still investigating the incident. They haven’t received any similar reports from neighbors.
