CHAMPION

An 84-year-old Templeton Road, Warren, man was life flighted to St. Elizabeth Health Center but later deemed to have minor injuries in a 3-vehicle accident on Mahoning Avenue at Cleveland Street Sunday.

The 2 p.m. accident began when Dale Calvin, 84, pulled onto Mahoning from Cleveland, side-swiping a southbound car driven by a 15-year-old girl practicing her driving with an instructor, according to troopers with Southington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Calvin’s vehicle proceeded into the intersection, hitting a northbound vehicle driven by Debra Starkey, 59, of Warren.

Starkey and the 15-year-old were transported to ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital for minor injuries. Calvin suffered minor cuts and bruises.

Calvin was cited for failure to yield the right of way at a stop sign and a seat-belt violation.
