Bags for Youngstown leaf collection available in October

Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

Despite Green Team funding cuts, city residents will continue to have full access to the Youngstown leaf-collection program, which includes free leaf bags and free pickup service for those who live in the city limits.

Bags are available for pickup at Green Youngstown offices on the third floor of the City Hall Annex Building, 9 W. Front St., from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday starting Oct. 1. Green Youngstown will also stay open late, to 6 p.m. Thursdays through Oct. 17, to distribute the bags.

Leaf bags will be collected, organized by each side of the city, for four weeks starting in late October; East side pickup will be Mondays; West Side, Tuesdays; North Side, Wednesdays; and South Side, Thursdays.

Pickup schedules will be distributed to residents when they pick up their bags. The information is also available at the City of Youngstown website, www.cityofyoungstownoh.com, and Green Youngstown Facebook page, www.facebook.com/youngstownlitter.recycling.

If residents have purchased bags elsewhere, or have bags leftover from last year, they must call Green Youngstown to get added to the pickup list.

All leaf bags will be composted and made into topsoil by spring.
