Girls soccer defeats Howland

The Canfield girls soccer team defeated Howland 2-1 on Sept. 4.

Bailey Fischer scored on a penalty kick for the only first half goal. Sophia Mancini scored on a break away early in the second half.

Canfield goal keeper Raquel Abel had six saves and the Howland keeper had one.The Lady Cardinals are 3-1 in season play.

Girls soccer takes on Walsh

The Canfield High School girls soccer team played Walsh Jesuit on Aug. 31.

The team started with two goals for Walsh in the first 13 minutes but the Canfield girls settled in to the extremely fast paced game. With 12 minutes left in the first half, Bailey Fisher was fouled in the box which led to a penalty kick and goal by Paige Bidinotto. At the half, the score was Walsh 2 - Canfield 1. Canfield kept Walsh to two goals until giving up a penalty kick with 30 seconds left to end the game 3-0.

Walsh had 17 shots to Canfield’s five. Senior goal keeper Vickie Villano had seven saves and the Walsh keeper had 5.

Girls volleyball tops Struthers

The Canfield High School volleyball team defeated Struthers 3-0 (25-13, 25-13, 25-15).

Top players for Canfield were Stephanie Rivera with five kills, Madison Stewart with five kills, Carly Trefethern with seven points and Rachel Rafoth with 30 digs.

Carelli plays with SBA Aces

Anthony Carelli a senior at Canfield High school was able to play on venues one can only dream of.

With the SBA Aces 16U Travel Baseball Organization, founded by former Major League pitcher Jason Stanford, Carelli and the ACEs played on fields such as Notre Dame University, Ohio State University and University of Kentucky. Anthony finished the season with a 2.7 ERA Pitching statistic, to go along with his 368 batting average.
