BGMS CC Takes First

Boardman Glenwood’s girls cross country team took first place Sept. 7 at the Champion Invitational.

Casey Zaitzew earned first place overall, Cassie Stitt earned second place overall, and Nadine Gabriel earned ninth place overall.

The Spartans are coached by Kendal Daltorio and Lesley Koch.

BGMS loses to Berry

The Boardman Glenwood football team lost to P. Ross Berry 20-14 at Spartan Stadium Sept. 4.

BGMS jumped out to an early 8-0 lead on Noah Falleti’s 20-yard touchdown run and two-point conversion. Down 20-8 in the fourth quarter, Falleti struck again with a 32-yard touchdown run.

Boardman Glenwood’s defense was strong in the final minutes to force a Berry punt that was then blocked by Evan Knaus.

Boardman Glenwood, however, could not convert in the final minute to take the lead. The loss drops BGMS to 1-1 on the season.

BGMS beats Warren

Boardman Glenwood’s football team defeated the Warren Raiders at Spartan Stadium 16-12.

Brad Boerio led the defensive effort with a 65 yard fumble return for a touchdown. Also recovering fumbles for the Spartans were John Fleet and Clayton Wehr. Noah Falleti also contributed to a strong Glenwood defense with an interception. Falleti also led the offensive charge with a 70-yard touchdown run.

DeCosta Baptiste ran in the two-point conversion to cap the Boardman Glenwood scoring. Boardman Glenwood is coached by Vince Carnevale and Nick Colla.

BGMS defeats Youngstown Christian

Boardman Glenwood Middle School’s seventh-grade volleyball team improved their record to 2-1 by defeating Youngstown Christian 25-7 and 25-17. Hannah Nawrocki led the team in sets with Brigita Ositis also setting strong.

The eighth-grade team also improved their record to 2-1 by beating Youngstown Christian 19-25, 25-7 and 25-14. Emma Hough was strong offensively while Riley Zawrotuk led with sets.
