Whispering Pines sets Scout award dinner

CANFIELD — Whispering Pines District of Greater Western Reserve Council, Boy Scouts of America, will host its annual recognition and awards dinner Sunday at Camp Stambaugh, 3712 Leffingwell Road.

A social time will begin at 5:30 p.m.; dinner will be served at 6.

The dinner will recognize 34 Scouts who have earned the rank of Eagle, the highest a Scout can achieve.

A Silver Star award recipient will be honored. It is the highest award a Venturing Scout can achieve. Cub Scout Packs, Boy Scout Troops and Venturing Crews and Scout volunteers also will be recognized.

The highlight will be the presentation of the District Award of Merit to a volunteer. Kurt Hildebrand is district chairman; Preston Cockrell, district executive; and Richard Gent, district commissioner.
