Kasich, education leaders launch Ohio 'Straight A' fund

Published: Wed, September 11, 2013 @ 2:40 p.m.

COLUMBUS (AP) — Gov. John Kasich has called upon Ohio educators to tap their creativity as the state makes available a new $250 million education innovation grant fund.

The Republican governor joined top state education officials today to launch the Straight A Fund included in Ohio’s two-year operating budget.

The program aims to reward creative ideas and programs that significantly boost student achievement, dramatically reduce spending or target an impressive share of resources into the classroom.

Joining Kasich at the inaugural meeting of the fund’s governing board were State Superintendent Dick Ross and Susan Zelman, a former state superintendent who’s serving as fund director.

Grants will go to traditional public schools, community schools, STEM schools, individual teachers and to educational consortia comprising multiple districts, universities, educational service centers or private entities.

Gdog - he's BEEN doing that. JobsOhio is a private business. As such, Kasich claims it doesn't have to reveal what it does with its money, even though most of its money is public/tax money.

Kasich is in for a rude awakening if he thinks he's going to get a second chance to mess this state up. As a lame duck, he'll have nothing to lose, so he'll really attack public employees and unions.
