Boardman man arrested for firing gun

Published: Mon, September 9, 2013 @ 10:29 a.m.

BOARDMAN — Dennis Villa, 61, of Boardman was arrested after firing a gun outside of his Ridgefield Avenue apartment complex on Friday, according to a police report.

Boardman police responded to a report of a robbery at the Ridgefield apartment complex a little after 5 p.m.

Police began to gather information from the victim of the burglary when Villa started yelling at the police.

When a police officer turned to see what Villa was yelling about, Villa fired a .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol, according to a police report.

The officer was able to detain Villa and then retrieved the gun and the fired round, according to a police report. The police officer noticed the smell of alcohol on Villa.

Police later learned that Villa was upset about how long it was taking for the police to respond to the robbery report. Villa told his neighbors he knew of a better way to get the police to respond by firing a shot, according to the police report.

Villa was charged with inducing panic and using weapons while intoxicated.

Obviously, Mr. Villa shouldn't have done this, but I find it entertaining because he's right. Gun shots do make the cops come faster! The article doesn't say how long it took the cops to get there, but if it took awhile I would be upset too. Especially, because I see BPD in duos and trios all day and night chilling and hanging out bsing with eachother. They are always hanging out in packs at ORE, that church by Yankey Kitchen, and lets not forget Center Middle School.

Yes Boardman residents. See what dividends its paid off having more cops after that recent levy passed. You cannot drive 1 mile without seeing them hanging out at the donut shops or harassing tax payers trying to drive to work. But when you actually need them they are not there. This guy got robbed, and now he is gonna get robbed again. By the government.
