Player of the game: YSU quarterback Kurt Hess, who completed 16 of 19 passes for 282 yards, three TDs and no interceptions. While you can quibble with the opponent, Hess’ outing was far better than last week, when he completed just 9 of 19 passes for 73 yards, no TDs and two interceptions against Dayton, which plays in the same conference as Morehead State.
Key play: OK, we’ll admit it. There wasn’t one. But if I have to pick one play, I’ll choose the game’s first, when YSU kick returner Andre Stubbs got stripped and teammate Kintrell Disher was there to recover it at the Penguins’ 29.
Best quote: From YSU coach Eric Wolford, on why he went for two after the game’s first touchdown: “You know what the rule is: eight is better than seven.”
