Parole denied for Anthony Cioffi Jr. who raped child in 1991

Staff report

The Ohio Parole Board has refused to grant parole to Anthony Cioffi Jr., 50, for at least five more years following Cioffi’s 1996 conviction for raping and sexually assaulting a 6-year-old boy and other offenses.

Cioffi has served nearly 17 years of a sentence of 10 to 25 years handed down in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court. He will be eligible for parole again in August 2018, and his sentence expires in November 2021.

Court records say Cioffi pleaded guilty to three counts of rape and two of gross sexual imposition involving the 6-year-old and one count of gross sexual imposition involving a 4-year-old boy.

Those offenses occurred on Belle Street Southeast in Warren in 1991.

He also pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting and kidnapping an 8-year-old girl on South Market Street in Girard in 1995.

At his sentencing in 1996, the mother of one of Cioffi’s victims said: “He took from my daughter something that can never be replaced. This nightmare that [my daughter] and I have lived with is something that will never go away. We are sentenced with this for the rest of our lives, not just 10 to 25 years.”
