Canton man charged after alleged shoplifting

BOARDMAN — A Canton man is now facing theft and drug charges after attempting to steal hunting equipment from Walmart, according to police.

Richard McVicker, 33, allegedly attempted to steal 13 broadheads for arrows, or arrow tips, around 2:30 p.m. Sept. 5.

After loss prevention caught McVicker as he attempted to leave the store without paying the cost of $358. 88 for the items, he tried to destroy a glass pipe he had in his pocket, according to a police report.

McVickers was taken to the Mahoning County jail.
