Sidewalks along state Route 304 will be installed as a schools-safety project.
Township Administrator Pat Ungaro said a $500,000 Safe Routes to Schools grant will pay for the entire project.
The project will start at Shady Road and Route 304. It will continue toward the Pennsylvania line to the township administration building, Ungaro said. The sidewalk will be on the north side of the road, across from the building, he said.
It will be a straight shot, he said, though a sidewalk also will be installed on a short portion of the Fifth Avenue extension on the north side.
The state awards grants according to population, he said.
The township also completed a project in front of the elementary school two years ago, Ungaro said. It included rehabilitating a bridge, sidewalks and decorative lights. Grants paid for that project also, Ungaro said.
The township spent $70,000 there for road resurfacing, he said.
