Youngstown police cite Warren man for leaving his dog in car overnight

Published: Wed, September 4, 2013 @ 10:30 a.m.

YOUNGSTOWN — Police cited a 19-year-old Warren man at 8:50 a.m. Monday for leaving a dog in a car all night on the West Side.

Officers were called to Maryland Avenue for a report of a barking dog and they found the dog pacing in the back seat of a car with the window open only a crack and no food or water.

The dog's owner, Brandon Twyford, told police he last checked on the dog at 1 a.m. Monday. Police told him he cannot leave a dog in a car on a sunny, humid day and that he has to give food and water to the dog.

He was cited for animal cruelty, and the dog warden took the dog and also cited Twyford for not having a dog license.
