Warren Civil Service Commission hopes to have tests for cops, firefighters

Published: Wed, September 4, 2013 @ 2:06 p.m.

WARREN — The Warren Civil Service Commission is hoping to have tests for entry-level police officer and firefighter in November.

It would bring to six the number of promotional exams the city has given this year, possibly a record number for one year, said Sue Burns, civil service commission clerk.

Both departments have hired a number of people in recent months and have exhausted their lists of qualified candidates.

Police hirings have been mostly the result of retirements. The fire department has been hiring as a result of a $5 million federal staffing grant.
