Chevrolet Cruze sales dip down in August

Published: Wed, September 4, 2013 @ 10:35 a.m.

YOUNGSTOWN — After three straight months of record sales from May through July, sales of the Lordstown-built Chevrolet Cruze slid by 8 percent in August going from 25,975 units sold at the same time last year to 23,909 sold last month.

Still, the Cruze’s August sales number was a strong one as analysts typically consider sales above 20,000 to be strong.

As the Cruze’s hot streak came to an end last month, General Motors said today that August was its best sales month yet. The company said it sold 275,847 vehicles last month — a total increase of 15 percent from 2012.
